Malta has become a household name in the residency and citizenship by investment industry, parliamentary secretary Julia Farrugia Portelli said. In a very short span of time, it managed to set the tone and position itself as market leader in the investment migration sector.

During her address at the opening of the 12th Global Residence and Citizenship Conference organised by Henley & Partners in Dubai, Farrugia Portelli said that Malta can claim success by its own right as a result of a combination of proactiveness, timeliness, and determination when designing its programmes.

Much has been said about the economic benefits for Malta, however the residence and citizenship by investment industry did not simply stimulate the local economy; it has enriched the country, by enhancing the human capital as well as by bettering the cultural heritage.

The next few weeks will be crucial for the RCBI industry; however, Malta is confident it will keep flourishing and providing opportunities for families to enjoy a better life in a more stable country, and for successful entrepreneurs to keep expanding their businesses, Farrugia Portelli said.

The Parliamentary Secretary led a delegation from the Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency and the Malta Residency and Visa Agency who participated in a number of workshops at the same conference. Present in Dubai were also a number of industry players and representatives from the Malta Enterprise who took the opportunity to outline all the pull factors Malta has in place to attract families and successful entrepreneurs to our shores.
