Gianluca Calabretta scored a brace yesterday to give his side Swieqi the second victory on the trot against a Lija side that suffered the second consecutive defeat.

It was an entertaining encounter, in which apart from the five goals scored, there were other goal scoring opportunities, with Lija also hitting the woodwork in the first half. Lija were the better team in the opening stages of the game but by half time were trailing to a Calabretta penalty.

On the resumption Lija stormed forward and managed to turn the tide in their favour with two quick goals in side the first ten minutes. But Swieqi rose to the occasion and grabbed the points at stake with a Margarit header and a Calabretta great goal that was worth the three points.
