Most successful edition of Express Trailers Żurrieq Half Marathon & 10km to date

"The Express Trailers Żurrieq Half Marathon and 10km Run attracted over 1500 registrations, making this event, the second most popular event in the road running calendar. Indeed, with 500 more registrations than last year, this was the most successful edition to date," said organiser Joe Micallef during the presentation of trophies following last Sunday's races.

Charlton Debono from Gozo Athletix AC placed first during Sunday's Express Trailers Żurrieq Half Marathon with a time of 1.13.18 followed by Mellieħa AC's Philp Vella who clocked 1.17.28 and Stephen Borg at 1.19.04.

Roberta Schembri from St Patrick's AC placed first amongst female athletes clocking 1.22.27, followed by Hannah Pace from Athleta Pembroke with a time of 1.37.08 and Vicki Johnson from the Ladies Running Club in third place with a time of 1.37.47.

The 10km Run was won by Dillon Cassar from Raptorz Running Club with a time of 32.54 followed very closely by Andrew Grech from Mellieħa AC with a time of 33.01 whilst Jean Paul Debono placed third with a timing of 33.52.

In the female category, Josann Attard Pulis from Starmax was the first female athlete to cross the finish line at 38.06 followed by Joelle Cortis of St Patrick's AC at 38.53 and Rachel Borg from the Ladies Running Club who placed third with a time of 40.36.

Franco Azzopardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers congratulated all the participating athletes and reiterated the company's commitment to supporting this annual event as a token of Express Trailers' legacy towards promoting road safety.

"This year was the 6th edition sponsored by Express Trailers and we are delighted to have watched this event grow to this extent. Encouraged by these results, Express Trailers, together with Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club and the event organisers will be looking at ways how to grow this event even more for the coming years," added Franco Azzopardi.
