A driver was critically injured this morning after the car he was driving crashed into an electricity pole, the police said.

The accident took place in St Andrew’s Road, St Julian’s, at around 1.30am.

The driver, a Pakistani aged 38 was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in the car, a Mauritanian woman aged 28, was also hurt.

Magistrate Marseanne Farrugia ordered an inquiry.
