Darmanin has just announced he will give a concert locally in 2019

Acclaimed tenor Nico Darmanin recently made his debut with top UK opera house Glyndebourne, following another recent performance at London's Royal Opera House.

Taking on the roles of Gastone and Alfredo, Darmanin joined the Glyndebourne company in its ongoing 2018 tour of La Traviata. Sung in Italian, Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata is one of opera's most enduring romances, following the story of two young lovers separated by society and fate. Glyndebourne's timeless production combines sumptuous visuals with poignant realism to create a contemporary classic.

"Glyndebourne is one of the best opera companies in the world," Darmanin says. "It has hosted world class singers such as Luciano Pavarotti, where he debuted the role of Idamante, as well as Roberto Alagna, who debuted his Alfredo in the beginning of his career. The grounds are just unbelievable - an idyllic setting in the British countryside on a private estate where you find this fabulous fully functioning International Opera House.

"From the second I arrived, the company took care of me and truly made me feel like a super star. The music staff is unparalleled: I have had the opportunity to prepare the role of Alfredo with some of the best rep coaches in the world of opera. Singing at Glyndebourne is one of the most prestigious opportunities an opera singer can have. It is truly a gem of a company. My experience here has been absolutely fantastic."

Meanwhile, Darmanin also announced that he will be giving a concert in Malta at the start of next year.
