YAMAHA Gozo Motocross Championship - Round 2

The Gozo Motorcross Association organised its second round of the championship 2018/19 at Ta' Xħajma Track. Twenty riders participated in today's event, watched by numerous fans who came to support their favourite riders.The competition proved to be an unpredictable and changeable moment wrapped up in a dramatic atmosphere of emotion, noise, expectation and excitement.

Riders of Class A dominated the day as its riders put on the most incredible competitive show. Top rider of the championship classification, David Dimech together with Steve Xuereb and Nataniel Camilleri fought hard to place in the first three positions in all of the three heats. In fact, David Dimech won this category followed closely by Xuereb who was short by two points. Camilleri, champion 2017/18 who was promoted from Class B to Class A, came in third place.

Class B was just as challenging with Glenn Vella, Robert Spiteri and Keith Bugeja striving hard for first place. In fact, Vella who is top of the Class B Championship list achieved full points and ended up first followed by Bugeja in second place and Spiteri in third.

In Class C, Jorn Stellini held on fast to first place. Matthew Buttigieg came in second while Matthew Spiteri, champion 2017/18 in class C came in third.

Rider Anthony Fenech returned to Class D. Daniel Portelli is also a new comer in this category. David Mercieca did quite well, infact he came in first, followed closely by Eric Cardona. Young Isaac Bartolo, came in third place. Mercieca is leading this class.

Gozo Motocross Association  announces that the third round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2018/19, will take place on Sunday 16th  December 2018 at Ta' Xhajma Track. Races start at 13:00.

At the end of the event,  trophies, supported by Mezzan Gargae were awarded to the winners while championship points were collected.

The association encourages and welcomes new riders.
