Two arrested over suspected drug trafficking in Gozo

The police arrested two people in Gozo in connection with the sale of illegal substances.

In a statement, the police said that on 10 January, two men - a 29-year-old Italian who resides in Marsalforn, and a 45-year-old Maltese who resides in Fontana, Gozo, were arrested. They were allegedly trafficking drugs in St Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo.

The Italian man was found to be in possession of cannabis, and a search of his residence resulted in more packets of the substance being found, as well as cannabis plant seeds.

The Maltese man was found to be in possession of heroin in several packets ready to be sold. Cocaine was found in his residence.

Investigations are ongoing.
