A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a traffic accident in Mosta, the police said.

The boy crossed the road, according to the police, and hit the side of a moving car, a Honda Civic that was driven by a 60-year-old woman of Mosta.

The boy was taken to the Mosta polyclinic and later transferred to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

The accident took place in Nicolo Isouard Street at 1.45pm.
