LovinMalta withdraws slanderous comment against Delia

Saturday, 19 January 2019, 08:02 Last update: about 6 years ago

Website LovinMalta has withdrawn an “unfounded and malicious” allegation on Opposition leader Adrian Delia.

Earlier this month, the website had published an article in which it was reported that Delia was seen running around with €500 notes given as donation to the PN, which led to the libel suit.

Once the website withdrew the allegation, Delia informed his lawyer Vincent Galea that he was ready to withdraw a libel suit he had filed against the website, a PN statement said.

In an article withdrawing the claim, LovinMalta said that they had no evidence of what they reported and apologised to Delia.

The PN said it continued to support the free media and is in favour of freedom of expression, but is disappointed when some media individuals abuse or are used by third parties to attack politicians or others.
