Malta on Sunday celebrated the feast of its patron saint, with a mass held at the Church of St Paul’s Shipwreck in Valletta, and the traditional march in the streets of the capital.
The feast is the first public holiday of the year.
Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Charles Scicluna and attended by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and several politicians.
The Apostle St. Paul arrived on the Maltese Islands in 60 AD, in an event which is recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.
Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna marked the feast by firing a 21-gun salute from the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
