A Firas Aboulezz header from a corner action was enough for Gudja to gain their fifth successive victory and remain firmly in second place behind run-away leaders Sirens.

It was a tough test though for Gudja, as Swieqi were a hard nut to crack yesterday. Gudja however were the better team on the day having the better chances and enjoying territorial superiority for long stretches of the match.

However Gudja have to thank their goalkeeper Debono for keeping the three points at stake, as the Gudja custodian Debono made two stunning saves just before the end of the first half.

Gudja’s winner came from a Jackson Lima corner which aws headed home by Aboulezz who could not such an easy header in front of goal.

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza scored four of his side’s goals in Pembroke’s easy win over bottom of the table side Marsa. Mifsud Triganza was outstanding, scoring two goals from the penalty spot and two other well taken ones, especially the second one direct from a freekick.

Unfortunately the Pembroke striker had to be substituted as he was injured in the action of the fourth goal. Pembroke dominated the match against Marsa who are now in a free fall and yesterday’s defeat was their ninth consecutive one.

Marsa’s only bright moment was the goal scored on 38 minutes, a well taken goal by Watanabe. Apart from Mifsud Triganza’s poker, Pembroke’s other goals were scored by Moacir Da Rosa Wilmsen and Vallecillo Casado.
