The police are investigating the discovery of the body of an English woman who has been dead for three months.

According to reports, the woman’s husband, who is also English, did not file a report after the woman died in November.

A search was carried out by the police at the couple's apartment in Triq San Luqa, Qawra, after the British High Commission alerted them that the woman had been missing for a number of weeks.

The woman, Janet Harvey, was 69 years old. It is understood that she was found in a bed, covered with blankets in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Net News is reporting that the husband did not file a report because he wanted to remain with his wife.

The man is being held at the Qawra police station and nothing is being excluded at this stage.

Scene of the Crime Officers are currently on site.

Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace is leading an inquiry.
