It's March 2019 and the Gozo Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Mro. Dr. Joseph Grech and in collaboration with 7SPP and Festivals Malta, is once again on the road. The spectacular successes of Dark Side Over Gozo in the Aurora Theatre, Gozo in March, Dark Side Over Valletta in the MCC Valletta in November 2017, and the very successful packed-house Queen meets Coldplay at MCC Valletta in November, 2018 provided rewarding challenges to all those involved. As a result, the reception and encouragement the team received, has provided the energy and enthusiasm to once again present the latest show. Whereas the Dark Side events were a Rock Orchestral Tribute to the music of Pink Floyd, our latest production will be somewhat different but we believe equally entertaining.
This time we will present the re-run of our latest spectacular Rock Orchestral productions at the Aurora Theatre, Victoria, Gozo. It's titled "QUEEN meets COLDPLAY" and it will take place on Saturday 16 March, 2019 at 8pm. It will feature a range of classic numbers from the vast music catalogues of Megabands QUEEN and COLDPLAY.
Appearing with the Orchestra are, once again Cash & Band and for the first time Killer Queen Band, two of Malta and Gozo's finest rock bands. Last year Cash & Band scaled new heights in their tribute to Pink Floyd, this year they will bring the same assured style and feel to the music of COLDPLAY. As was the case at MCC, Killer Queen reached the same heights with their tribute to QUEEN.
On the night they will be joined by some highly-talented guest singers, Keith Anthony, Dorothy Bezzina, Cheryl Balzan, Sarah Bonnici, Ludwig Galea, Chris Grech, and Neville Refalo, all are very well known on the local and international music scene. We will also have a QmC mini choir, prepared by Dorothy Bezzina, providing backing power to the production.
