The Maltese nominee for the post of judge to the General Court of the European Union, Ramona Frendo, has been found to satisfy the necessary criteria by an expert panel and has been approved to perform these duties in accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the government said today.

This has been confirmed by the Conference of Representatives of Governments of Member States, which convened in Brussels on Wednesday.

The government expressed its satisfaction that with this positive news, Malta will be represented by two judges to the General Court and another judge to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The government is confident that Ramona Frendo, who hails from Żejtun, possesses all the necessary competences to effectively fulfil this key position to the best of her abilities.

Frendo had appeared on a Labour Party billboard before the 2013 election.
