A man thought to be responsible for 27 crimes has been remanded in custody this morning after being arraigned.

“Self-employed” 32-year-old Matthew Camilleri from Gzira was charged with carrying out the indiscriminate thefts of cash, cheques and electronics from individuals and companies all over the island.

He was also charged with several counts of fraud, attempted fraud and attempted theft. Some of the thefts were aggravated by value.

Camilleri was additionally accused of making a false declaration to a public authority.

The accused entered a not guilty plea. Bail was not requested.
