The storm that hit Malta on the weekend of 23 and 24 February caused around €118,500 in damage to road infrastructure, Transport Minister Ian Borg told Parliament on Wednesday.

Replying to a Parliamentary Question by PL MP Edward Zammit Lewis, Borg said the damage consisted mainly of two destroyed bus shelters, collapsed walls, damaged road signs and dislodged crash barriers.

The minister said that Infrastructure Malta workers had already started carrying out repair works on Saturday morning, just as the storm started passing over the Maltese Islands.

The agency was also assisting other entities that were helping people who found themselves in difficulty as well as cleaning debris from the roads.
