Malta Public Transport – the company that operates Malta’s public transport system – has been given over €66 million in subsidies since 2017, Transport Minister Ian Borg told Parliament on Wednesday.
Replying to a Parliamentary Question by PN MP Simon Busuttil, Borg said Transport Malta paid out €29,199,996 in 2017 and €29,530,095 in 2018.
The amount paid in subsidies between January and March of this year was €7,299,999.
In 2012, the government forked out €8,224,500 in subsidies for public transport.
The figures for 2013, 2014 and 2015 were as follows: €10,214,000, €29,027,312 and €22,999,992.
