A Libyan man who knifed 6 people in a Paceville stabbing spree has been jailed for 12 and a half years and ordered to pay €22,000 in expenses.

Zebbug resident Ehab Zorgani, 26 was charged with counts of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm using a sharp instrument, after he allegedly ran amok in Paceville early one Sunday morning in September 2015, stabbing six passers-by.

It took less than a month for a court of magistrates to rule that the man was to be indicted for the crimes.

Court sources say that he was found guilty by the Criminal Court upon his own admission, which is understood to have been made as part of a plea bargain.

Zorgani faced a trial by jury and the possibility of spending over 30 years in jail had he not admitted.

In the light of his admission, the Criminal Court sentenced him to 12.5 years in prison and ordered him to pay €22,000 in court expenses.
