Mosta and Floriana shared six goals in an open match of attacking football. In the end it was a fair results since both teams had their moments. Mosta took an early double lead but failed to hold on, credit to Floriana who always believed and thus continued on their positive run.

This was a clash between two teams fetching for the maximum points in order to secure Premier League football for another season. The Greens were coming from four positive results, three wins and a draw. Their most significant one being last week's win over eternal rivals Valletta.

For Mosta it was more imparative to win this match since this would open an eight point gap over twelfth placed St. Andrew's with four matches to go. Following two defeats against Sliema and Valletta, last week Mosta held Hibernians in a 1-1 draw.

In the first round, Floriana defeated Mosta by a 1-0 score.

Mosta took the lead after only thirteen minutes when Garnet Akeem Roach received a perfect pass and from a perfect position from the edge of the box placed the ball behing Floriana goalkeeper Akpan.

Only five minutes had elapsed and Mosta increased their lead. It was an intelligent shot from Demir Imeri who on seeing the Greens goalkeeper Akpan out of position shot from the middle of the park with the ball hitting the net.

This initial flurry hit Floriana hard and they were finding it difficult to mount a proper reaction. But six minutes from the break Keqi gave them a lifeline when off a Marcelina header he placed the ball in an empty net.

Floriana were more aggressive on resumption and in the 56th minute they drew level. They were awarded a free kick with Paiber floating the ball towards Oyama and from a diagonal position  found the corner of the net.

In the 70th minute the Greens went near to forge in front for the first time in the match when following a solo run by Galvao his final shot was turned onto a corner by Mosta goalkeeper Vella.

But ten minutes from the end they were not to be denied when off a corner taken by Oyama the ball came Paiber's way whose shot was deflected by Terence Vella and into the net.

But their joy was to be short lived as only a minuta had elapsed and both teams were on level terms once again. Imeri's shot was partially saved by Akpan with James Brincat being on hand to draft home.

And indeed Mosta could have stole it at the death when Tyron Farrugia played a long ball towards Ekani but his effort was saved by Akpan.
