Valletta FC supporters seem to be gearing up for the run-in of the BOV Premier League, as city-goers today found a flag of club president Victor Sciriha against a red and white background draped across Republic Street.

Sciriha is the club’s long term president and is revered by supporters as having brought great success to the capital club.  Sciriha became Valletta FC President in 2007 after an extended spell as club president of Marsaxlokk FC.  Since, Valletta have won six league titles and three FA Trophies.

This season with just three games left, Valletta are placed in second place a mere point behind league leader Hibernians.  Their coach Danilo Doncic last weekend resigned his post, right after the capital club drew to high-flying Gzira which in turn followed a stinging 2-0 loss to neighbours Floriana, results which saw them lose their league lead.

Valletta face St Andrews, Tarxien and Hamrun in their last three league games while Hibernians have the challenges of Qormi, Senglea and Balzan to overcome if they want to retain their league lead until the end of the season.

The two league challengers are both still in contention for the FA Trophy, and will meet each other in the Quarter Finals at the beginning of May.
