An elderly person was seriously injured after falling down the stairs in a private residence in Qormi, the police said.

Yesterday, at around 6.30pm, the Police were informed that assistance is needed in Triq il-Kbira, Sqaq Nru. 4, Qormi.

The 76-year-old residing in Ħal Qormi was injured following a fall from the stairs inside the residence.

An ambulance was called onsite and took the victim to Mater Dei hospital for further medical treatment. Later, the person was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

The police did not give the gender of the injured person.
