The Malta Independent has obtained a recording of a telephone conversation a father and son had on Wednesday evening minutes after a block of apartments collapsed in Guardamangia.

The father called the son to let him know that they managed to leave the building in time before it all came crumbling down.

“It all came down,” the emotional dad. “We are outside”.

The son then asks his father how they managed to leave the building, with the father replying that a noise was heard and they ran outside.

“It’s a miracle,” the son replied, saying that he will go over to the scene of the accident.
