A bus caught fire in Cirkewwa earlier this morning, injuring no-one.

Only the driver was on board the vehicle when it caught fire at around 5.30am, the police said.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were on site to control the blaze.

In a statement, Malta Public Transport said one its vehicles was “involved in an incident in Cirkewwa. An emergency procedure was activated and our response team are on site offering all possible assistance to the relevant authorities.

“While no one was injured in this incident, thanks to the immediate action taken by the team on site and in our Control room, our priority at the moment is to ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and passengers,” the company said.
