A robber made off with a necklace stolen from an elderly woman, injuring a 91-year-old man by pushing him to the ground.

The robbery took place in Nicolo Isouard Street, Sliema, at 7.30pm on Saturday.

The robber approached the couple and ripped the necklace from the woman’s neck. The 91-year-old man tried to intervene but was pushed to the ground, and was seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 87-year-old woman was unhurt. The couple lives in Sliema.
