Valletta yesterday announced that their coach for the coming season will be ex-Gzira United manager Darren Abdilla.

Abdilla will take over from Gilbert Agius who guided the side in the final matches of the season after the sudden departure of Danilo Doncic.

Under Gilbert Agius' guidance, Valletta managed to win their 25th league title after a dramatic decider with Hibernians, and also led the Citizens to the FA Trophy final, which was lost after a penalty shootout with Balzan.

Gilbert Agius will remain with the champions as assistent coach to Darren Abdilla. Abdilla started last season with the Maroons but resignes from his post half way through the season.

For Darren Abdilla this will be the second stint with the local champions having served as assistant coach in the early part of season 2014-15. He signed a three-year contract, which will bind him with the Citizens till the end of season 2021-22.

Meanwhile Hamrun Spartans yesterday presented Italian coach Manuele Blasi who signed a two-year contract with the Spartans.

He will replace another Italian coach Giovanni Tedesco who joined Gzira United earlier this week.
