Athletes from Ying Yang Team Noel, Diane Schembri and Keith 'Speed' Azzopardi will be once again representing Malta this time in Poland and France respectively under the wing of Master Noel Mercieca.
Diane Schembri will be participating in a kickboxing event entitled 'Girl Power 8' organized by the World Kickboxing Network on Friday 7th June in Bedzin, Poland. Together with Schembri, seven other participants will be competing in such event. These fighters will be battling it out in a knockout tournament where in order to claim the 'World Kickboxing Network Championship Belt' one has to win a total of three fights on the night. The participating athletes are:
Olga Gavrish - Ukraine, Karolina Mlynik - Poland, Diane Schembri - Malta, Vittoria Di Mauro - Italy, Marika Pagliaroli - Italy, Barbara Nalepka - Poland, Wiktoria Mirecka - Poland and Katarzyna Jaworka - Poland.
The mentioned participants are all in the 58kg - 62kg weight category.
A week later, on the 15th of June, professional athlete Keith 'Speed' Azzopardi will be competing again in France this time against the talented Frenchman, Jonathan Pastorino during the event 'Full Contact Night' in Nice, France. The winner of such bout will be crowned World Kickboxing Network World Champion. The fighters are to withstand twelve rounds of two minutes each. Such a fight requires constant physical training and plenty of stamina and endurance. Azzopardi and Pastorino will be competing in the 60kg weight category.
One will be able to see both Schembri and Azzopardi competing locally during 'Gladiators Fight Night XXIII' on the 29th of June at the Corradino Sports Pavilion. More details will be available in the coming weeks prior to this event.
