Minister for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change José Herrera today accepted the resignation handed by Maurice Mizzi from his position as Chairman of the Guardian for Future Generations.

Minister Herrera thanked Maurice Mizzi for his dedication shown in his work during the past two years of his tenure as Chairman of the Guardian for Future Generations, noting the valuable feedback given on various subjects related to sustainable development.

Mizzi was amply criticized a few weeks ago following an interview he had given in which some of his comments were labeled as racist. The ministry had disassociated itself from the comments made, which Mizzi said had been given in his personal capacity.
