Families which were evacuated from their apartments in Pieta last Thursday will be given alternative accommodation, the government said today.

The Housing Authority has intervened to provide the four families with an apartment until they can return to their homes.

The families can start moving in on Monday.

The alternative properties were found with the collaboration with the Foundation for Social Welfare Services.

The authority said the contractor responsible for the damage will foot the bill for the costs until there is no more danger and the families could return to their homes.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Social Accommodation said the government will continue monitoring the situation.

Thursday accident led to the suspension of all demolition and construction works until new regulations are in place.
