Floating heads of tuna fish spoiled the day for swimmers who chose Marsascala for a day at the beach on Sunday.
TVM reports that the heads of the fish were stuck to a buoy in the middle of the bay.
Bathers also reported that the sea was “oily” and polluted.
The remains were set to be removed by officials from the cleansing directorate.
In a statement, the Malta Federation of Aquaculture Producers said that the remains were not a result of fish farm activity.
The Federation said it had written to the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture to investigate.
