Birkirkara have entered the summer transfer market with a big bang.

Yesterday they made three major signings and these will certainly strengthen the side for the coming season.

The new players are all foreigners. They are central defender Enrico Pepe, flank midfielder/striker Isaac Ntow and attacking midfielder Miguel Angel Alba.

Italian central defender Pepe had joined Floriana in 2015, but last season he was on the books of Hamrun Spartans. He is 30 years old.

Ntow, 25, from Ghana, plays on the left flank, and was outstanding last season with Hibernians.

Alba, an Argentine attacking midfielder, will be returning to the club as the Stripes had brought him to Malta in 2017. But he joined Valletta in 2018. He is 30 years old.

Meanwhile, the club has started training in preparation for the forthcoming season.

The first session was held at the Mgarr Ground yesterday.

The club has confirmed coach John Buttigieg who led the side during the latter part of last season. His staff now also includes Jonathan Holland as new assistant coach, Sean Cini, new goalkeepers' coach and Vincenzo Cestaro, who has returned to the club in the role of physical trainer.
