Malta Employers' Association celebrates MEAINDEX anniversary

Tuesday, 2 July 2019, 12:54 Last update: about 7 years ago

The Malta Employers' Association (MEA) today celebrated the anniversary of the MEAINDEX Destination Europe, an online platform and networking forum.

The MEAINDEX gathers key entities related to the business ecosystem and aims for them to work with better synergy. This platform, which is a first for the Maltese islands, incorporates a directory of all government and non-government entities and regulatory bodies, associations related to the business community, NGOs, educational institutions, local councils and other contacts. It is a single point of reference and compliments servizz.gov as well as business first.  It facilitates access to information regarding incentives, grants, schemes and tax-credits.

The platform is open to both government entities as well as private sector enterprises that offer services to the business community.

MEA President Dolores Sammut Bonnici welcomed the 20 entities represented ad the meeting today. She highlighted that the aim of the platform is to facilitate easier access to information which, before the creation of this platform, was more fragmented. It serves as a go to point between the regulators and the business sector, she said.

MEA Director General Joseph Farrugia said that this was the first ever MEAINDEX symposium.  Whie it was created just a year ago, he said, it is becoming an important platform in the business sector.

The concept behind this platform came about back in 2015, he said, mentioning that SMEs were concerned about not having a reference point back then. While before they would need to contact departments individually there is now more collaboration, thereby simplifying the process.
