Malta Classic launches 2019 events - Mdina Grand Prix taking place on 12 and 13 October

Malta Classic 2019 will run between the 10th and 13th October 2019

The 2019 Malta Classic, launched on Friday, will be held between the 10th and 13th October.  

The 12th edition of the Malta Classic will be a four-day national event beginning with the Malta Classic Hill Climb on Thursday the 10 October. 

The event will involve classic cars racing up the hills of Mtaħleb with views over the Mediterranean Sea.

Some of the world's most prestigious classic cars will be showcased against the historic backdrop of St Peter's Square, at the Mdina Concours d'Elegance on Friday 11 October. The exhilarating races around the fortified walls of the Silent City and the centrepiece of Malta Classic 2019 will follow with The Mdina Grand Prix taking place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October. Categorised by speed, power and era, over 75 pre-1975 iconic classic cars will take to the Mdina Circuit in a race to the finish line. 

Addressing the press conference, brand ambassador and commentator Patrick Young revealed that thousands of spectators will experience the Mdina Grand Prix in a new dimension thanks to a new sponsor, Hands-on systems, providing a new GPS Tracking system on all driver vehicles, allowing for real-time tracking and reporting at all times.

The Operations Director, Pamela Said, added that some rare and iconic classic cars taking part and coming over from international locales including a 1965 ISO Bizzarrini A3C, a 1937 pre-war Delahaye, a 1964 Porsche 356 Coupe, a Barquetta Osca S1 500, a 1965 Porsche 911 and a 1950's Jaguar XK 120 Roadster of which have been also famed for their successes in other races and championships around the world. 

"We are grateful to the drivers of local iconic cars that have continued to support this event for over a decade, making it a national cultural tradition - A celebration of vintage style and speed.

"It is fantastic to see the Grand Prix in action, for our thousands of spectators to enjoy  and witness classic cars from Malta and overseas going head to head in a circuit around the island's most ancient city."
