Mosta registered their second win of the campaign when they beat Santa Lucia by a solitary goal scored by Bojan Kaljevic in the initial stages of the match.

Mosta were coming from a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Hibernians whereas Santa Lucia held Valletta in their last outing.

Mosta gave the debut to their recent signing, goalkeeper Henri Mafoumbi who thus kept a clean sheet in his first match with the Mosta shirt.

Santa Lucia started the match on the offensive and in the 5th minute following a swift counter break, an Alan Da Silva cross was perfectly met by Rei Tachikawa only for his shot to sail over the bar.

But it was Mosta who forged ahead just four minutes later, a goal which proved to be the winner. A Clayton Failla corner saw goalkeeper Vella failing to intercept with Bojan Kaljevic being on hand to head the ball into the net.

The Saints reacted on 15 minutes through a cross from the right side by Michael Camilleri with Rei Tachikawa’s headed effort saved by Henri Mafoumbi.

Short of the half hour Ememe had a good solo run ending with his shot over the bar. And on the other end on the stroke of half time a low drive by Kevin Ante Rosero was saved by goalkeeper Mafoumbi.

On the restart Santa Lucia had an Alan Da Silva shot deflected into a corner by Failla. And in the 58th minute a Failla free kick, the ball fell into Kevin Tulimieri’s path but his final drive was saved by goalkeeper Vella.

On 66 minutes Mosta once again on the attack this time through a Kevin Tulimieri free kick which was palmed onto a corner by Vella. Sixteen minutes from the end Santa Lucia threatend for the last time. An Alan Da Silva free kick found Magri Overend who passed towards Duarte but his shot was turned onto a corner by an alert Mafoumbi.

Till the end Mosta held firm to register an important win and grab three important points from a direct clash against another team aspiring to hold on to Premier League status.
