A bus operated by Malta Public Transport caught fire this morning, the company said.

All passengers were disembarked safely, it added.

“A bus operated by Malta Public Transport was involved in a fire incident in Burmarrad, while serving Route 31 in the direction towards Bugibba, at around 6.30am today,” the statement said.

“All passengers on board were disembarked safely and all safety procedures were followed. No one was injured in this incident.

“The company’s response team was immediately on site and an internal investigation to determine the cause of the fire is currently underway.”

The company said it regretted any inconvenience caused and thanked the respective authorities for their immediate response and assistance.
