A public consultation has been issued regarding improving services within elderly care homes that host people suffering from dementia, Active Ageing Minister Michael Farrugia has announced.

He said that the rate of people with dementia is rising. "As such, we are looking at prioritising this condition on our agenda."

He spoke about offering such people the best possible environment for their care. A personalised plan that includes including suggested activities will need to be drawn up with each patient for example.

The consultation will last for six weeks and one can access the proposed standards on [email protected].
