Famous ballet dancer Carla Fracci dies, aged 84

Famous ballet dancer Carla Fracci has died, aged 84, Italian media report.

Fracci was one of the most well-known ballet dancers, linked mostly to the Scala di Milano Theatre.

She will be remembered for her interpretations of the most important roles in ballet, such as Giselle and Juliet. She danced with famous partners such as Rudolf Nureyev and Vladimir Vassiliev.

She had been declared as Prima Ballerina by the New York Times in 1981.

She had made her debut at the Scala in 1955, and had later performed for the London Festival Ballet, the Sadler’s Wells Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet and the Royal Swedish Ballet.
