Malta travel restrictions for unvaccinated children have thrown holidays into chaos - UK report

Anger is mounting in the UK as travel restrictions imposed by Malta on 12-17 year-olds are forcing people to cancel their holidays to the island, a UK report says.

Inews.co.uk reports that an NHS NHS worker and a postman, who were both planning to take their families to Malta, have criticised the countries ‘unfair’ rules blocking children who are not fully vaccinated.

Malta’s requirements for UK arrivals aged 12 to 17 to be vaccinated is effectively a travel ban as the UK is not vaccinating that age group, the report says.

Rules in Malta state that youngsters aged five to 11 can travel if they are accompanying their fully vaccinated parents or legal guardians, provided they show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival.

And children under the age of five do not need to be tested.
