Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sister Corinne Vella has blasted Ramona Attard after she was interviewed by The Malta Independent on Sunday this week.
“Ramona Attard does not speak from moral high ground”, Vella said as she reacted to Attard stating that today’s State is different from the one which is mentioned and described in the public inquiry into Caruana Galizia’s murder.
The public inquiry found that the state should shoulder responsibility for Caruana Galizia’s murder, having allowed the environment which led to the murder to fester and having even contributed to that environment being created.
“The State that the inquiry mentions is a State that was different than the one we have today. Why? A new Prime Minister was appointed, and a number of reforms were implemented which the same board praised”, Attard said during the interview.
However, Vella was less than impressed by Attard’s answers:
“Ramona Attard does not speak from moral high ground. She was part of the communications team at the Office of the Prime Minister”, she wrote on social media, sharing this newsroom’s article.
“The public inquiry into Daphne’s assassination found that the propaganda campaign against Daphne was orchestrated from within the PM’s office and that it enabled her assassination. The campaign to discredit Daphne continued after her assassination, effectively blaming her for her own murder”, she said.
“Ramona Attard showed up at a public inquiry hearing as legal advisor to a witness from the OPM - Joseph Muscat. During the hearing, her constant interruptions and accusations of partisan questioning provoked a rare, angry rebuke by the board”, she added.
Vella described Attard’s claims that Malta is now a different State as “absurd”, particularly because they are coming from a lawyer.
“Malta has only one constitution. There is no second republic”, she said.
