Today, one month since the public inquiry into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was publicised, Labour Prime Minister Robert Abela has been called out by the Nationalist Party in opposition for his “enduring lack of seriousness in tackling the continual undermining of Malta’s justice system.”

This was stated during a press conference on Monday by Beppe Fenech Adami, Nationalist spokesperson for home affairs alongside fellow MP Joseph Ellis, the party's justice spokesperson, as well as Paula Mifsud Bonnici, Nationalist Party candidate.

Following Malta’s inclusion on the FATF grey list, as well as the inquiry report on Caruana Galizia’s murder instructing the Labour government to take responsibility for the “environment of impunity generated in the highest levels of the Labour government” Abela “has disappeared on vacation,” and “continues to protect” Minister for Justice and Governance, Edward Zammit Lewis, said the PN MP’s.

Furthermore, in light of the enduring media house cybercrime attacks which have been sending fake emails and creating fake websites, “in an attempt to confuse the populace” “Abela continues to obstruct democratic justice to journalism,” added the PN MP’s.

Thus, the PN have called for immediate action by suggesting a parliamentary sitting before the official resumption of parliament on the 4th of October.
