Night of ideas at Spazju Kreattiv

Tuesday, 8 March 2022, 10:08 Last update: about 3 years ago

Spazju Kreattiv, together with the French Embassy in Malta, the Alliance Française de Malte-Méditerranée and the French Institute in Paris are organising the first ever Night of ideas in Malta on Saturday, 12 March at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta.

During the Night of ideas, places of knowledge and culture around the world are invited to celebrate the free flow of ideas by offering conferences, screenings and artistic performances. Almost two years have passed, punctuated by the pandemic and its repercussions. The whole planet experienced closing borders, lockdown, suspended activities. How do we reconnect after all that? Through the collectiveness in creation.

On the first roundtable, Dr Sandro Debono, Matthieu Quiniou, Laura Besançon together with moderator Margerita Pulè will explore the notion of being an author in the frame of a collective creation: from a historical perspective, by questioning the notion of copyright across ages and geo-cultural areas, to the interactive and participative creation of today.

The second roundtable will give the floor to Caldon Mercieca, Eugénie Drion, Lucie Duriez and moderator Toni Attard, to discuss initiatives that share the good practices for co-creation. The aim of the roundtable is to explore, meet and exchange, bring forward initiatives, spaces and frames that gather the good conditions to co-creation which leads to time to explore, space to exchange.

After these panel discussions, audiences are invited to discover the work, Alone, together by Laura Besançon and the first NFT choreography by Eugénie Drion. Gaëtan Le Coarer, member of Laboratoire Paragraphe, will present two VR projects about heritage in Valletta and Egyptian musician Yunis will present the outcome of his shared artistic residency with Besançon.

These artistic installations will remain exhibited until Sunday, 10 April in Space B at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta.
