Sliema swimmers race in Luxembourg swim meet

Swimmers from the Sliema Aquatic Sports Club were in Luxembourg between the 18th and 20th March to compete in the 2022 CIJ International swim meet.

Over 2,000 entries were received by the organising committee and around 400 swimmers were accepted.

The swimmers who qualified in their respective age groups were accompanied by Coach Jeffrey Galea. Numerous personal bests were clocked in by the Sliema swimmers at the Luxembourg indoor Olympic pool and Sophia Allen who forms part of the Sliema Top Squad led by head coach Francesca Paolella and Mr Galea raced in the final 200m breaststroke and 200m freestyle.

Meanwhile the National Team swimmers selected by the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta to compete at the meet also included swimmers from the Sliema Aquatic Sports Club. They obtained the following medals: Thomas Wareing won a gold medal in the final of the 200m medley, Dylan Cachia won a silver medal in the final of the 400m freestyle and Michela Portelli won a bronze medal in 100m butterfly final. The National Squad was accompanied by National Coach Delon Dannhauser.
