A woman has been injured after she was hit by a car in Zejtun on Monday morning.

Police said that they were called to Triq Alfredo Cachia Zammit in Zejtun in response to a traffic accident at 7:15am on Monday morning.

Preliminary investigations showed that a woman, who is 62-years-old from Zejtun, had been hit by a Toyota 4Runner which was being driven by a 57-year-old man from Marsaxlokk.

The victim was given first aid by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

It is the second similar incident in the same day, after a woman was also run over in Luqa on Monday.

Police investigations are ongoing.
