A fire broke out on a boat off Qawra point on Sunday, with the four people who were on it being rescued.

The Civil Protection Department officers and the Armed forces were alerted after the alarm was raised at around noon.

The four people on the boat were taken ashore by Malta Red Cross volunteers and no injuries were reported.

The fire was controlled by CPD officials, however, the boat eventually sank.
