Peppi Azzopardi proposes monument honouring child who died of thirst

Tuesday, 13 September 2022, 17:05 Last update: about 3 years ago

Presenter Peppi Azzopardi has called for a monument honouring four-year-old Loujin, in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Loujin was part of a group of migrants who travelled from Lebanon to Italy, but ran into trouble on the way when their boat started sinking. Loujin reportedly died in her mother's arms.

Accompanying his Facebook post, Azzopardi uploaded a photo of what the supposed monument should look like.

The design was by famous Maltese cartoonist Gorg Mallia.

Azzopardi went on to say that this monument should be done "to haunt the consciousness of all Maltese".
