The restoration works for Ghajn ta' Bendu in Fontana Gozo have been completed, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri announced during his visit to the historical site.

The historic freshwater spring is located in front of Ghajn il-Kbira in Pjazza l-Ghejjun.

"We are investing in our cultural heritage because it is the foundation of who we are and it gives us our identity. Overall, this experience has shown us that locals, as well as those visiting, appreciate the valuable heritage we have in Gozo. Evidence of this can be seen through the Regiostars award that the Citadel won a few weeks ago," Camilleri said.

The Director for Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Gozo, John Xuereb, said that a part of the site had been closed off to the public due to safety concerns. It was around this time that the local council of Fontana filed an emergency application with the Planning Authority to carry out repair works.

All the work was carried out by the Restoration Unit at the Ministry for Gozo's Cultural Heritage Directorate.

Camilleri thanked all the workers who were involved in this restoration and spoke about how crucial it is that Malta's heritage is taken care of in order to attract more tourists to Gozo.
