The Nationalist Party is asking the government to “stop wasteful spending” as statistics published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show that Malta’s debt as of September 2022 was €8.8 billion, which is a €762 million increase compared to a year prior.

To reduce this deficit the PN is asking the government to stop spending money recklessly, as it is having a negative effect on everyone.

The PN added that the government should eliminate the “corruption tax” and instead ensure that public finances remain sustainable in order to serve the public in the long term.

In order to avoid excessive and unnecessary spending, the PN is asking the government to control non-essential expenses.

“This entire debt is a burden on us and future generations. People's money is being wasted recklessly.”
