A crash between a truck and a trailer occurred in Żurrieq at 10.45pm, the police said.

The accident occurred on Triq Hal Far. A trailer, being driven by a 60-year-old man from Kirkop, and a truck being driven by a 66-year-old man from Zabbar, collided. Through the impact, the truck dragged along for a few meters until it ended up in a field on the side of the road, the police said.

Civil Protection officers went on site as did a medical team. The 66-year-old man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for care and was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud launched an inquiry. Investigations are ongoing.
