Sinologist Salvatore Guiffrè to attend Campus Book Festival

Sinologist Dr Salvatore Giuffrè will attend the tenth edition of Kampus Kotba, the 2023 Campus Book Festival which will be held between Wednesday, 22 March and Friday, 24 March and sign copies of L-Analetti, a translation and commentary of the Analects of Confucius translated from classical Chinese into Maltese.

Dr Giuffrè will be at the SKS Publishers Stand on Wednesday, 22nd March between 3 pm and 4 pm during which he will be available to meet students interested in Confucianism and those who would like to ask any questions on the literary masterpiece he has just produced.

Dr Salvatore Giuffrè is a researcher, literary translator and teacher of Japanese and Chinese specialised in Chinese language and literature. He has taught courses on Chinese language, literature and culture at various institutions in Malta, such as the University of Malta, as well as abroad.

He was awarded a PhD in East Asian Studies by the University of Lyon III, France, in 2018. His areas of interest and research include comparative literary studies between Chinese and Western literature, Chinese poetry of the Republican Period (1912-49), Classical Chinese philosophy, and translation studies.

Salvatore is involved in ongoing translation projects of novels and poetry from Chinese into English, Maltese and Italian. He has published a number of research papers on modern Chinese literature, including a monograph on the Chinese sonnets of Feng Zhi.
