SAN ĠILJAN JP PROJECTS.... 21 MARSASKALA ESC................. 11 (4‑2), (4‑2), (6‑3), (7‑4)
Champions San Ġiljan JP Projects had no difficulty to return to winning ways against Marsaskala ESC. San Ġiljan cruised to victory winning all sessions while having the oppor‐ tunity to rest the key players after a gruelling match against Neptunes last Saturday. Marsaskala had their regular goalkeeper Jurgen Micallef missing through injury.
Edoardo Manzi made his debut for Marsaskala and didn’t disappoint. The Italian made his mark after he cancelled the first two goals of San Ġiljan with a brace of his own. The Saints still ended the session with a two‐goal advantage after Maro Jokovic scored twice.
Zeljko Kovacic’s team were three‐goals in front twice in the second session but in both occasions Manzi responded for Marsaskala. Nikolai Zammit and Aaron Younger gave San Ġiljan a solid cushion for the third session.
This was the session in which San Ġiljan removed any doubts where the win was going. Jeremy Abela, Nikolai Zammit, Nicholas Bugelli, Ben Plumpton, and Matthew Zammit twice, all scored for San Ġiljan while Manzi continued to tally up his per‐ sonal account with another three‐goals.
San Ġiljan continued to stretch their lead in the last session while Marsaskala scored sporadically to try and limit the damage. Nikolai Zammit scored three times during this session while Aaron Younger found the net twice.
