SLIEMA FRANK SALT 21 MARSASKALA ESC 12 (3-4), (6-2), (6-2), (6-4)

A slow start didn’t leave an impact on the final outcome as Sliema Frank Salt claimed their third consecutive win. Sliema only grasped control of the game in the middle of the second session but from then onwards, it was one way. Marsaskala, again without their regular goalkeeper Jurgen Micallef, were positive for half of the game until they couldn’t cope with Sliema’s quality.

Marsaskala fully deserved the lead in the first session as they were more compact and determined than their opponents. Edoardo Manzi gave them a double advantage, youngster Sam Engerer reduced the margin, but Tamas Sedlmayerm kept the two-goal advantage. Sliema recovered the deficit but couldn’t take the lead as Manzi kept Marsaskala in front.

The second session was a different story as after Mark Carani made it 5-3, Sliema turned the tables to take the lead for the first time in the lead, an advantage that never lost. The goals were scored Dmitri Kholod, Jayden Cutajar, and a brace by Andrija

Prlainovic. Manzi interrupted Sliema’s streak but Liam Galea and Benji Cachia made sure that Sliema had a solid foundation for the second part of the game.

Dejan Savic’s team secured themselves of the win in the third session. After Gerald Sammut responded to Andrija Prlainovic, Sliema scored five goals with no reply to widen the gap to 15-7, a margin that was impossible for Marsaskala to recover. The Blues continued to control proceedings in the last session as Zach Mizzi, Dino Zammit, Benji Cachia, Sam Engerer, Liam Galea and Dmitrii Kholod all found the net.
